Partnership Background
Devon Authorities Recycling Partnership is the public name for the Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee which has a long history of successful partnership working in the County. In June 1991 Devon won the BT and Friends of the Earth first “Recycling County” Award. A Joint Recycling Committee representing all of the Devon Authorities was set up.

This committee was unique at the time with a budget formed by pooling recycling credits. This fund was used for pump priming and capital expenditure for recycling schemes across the county including the collection authority kerbside schemes where there was match funding from the local authority involved.

By 1999 the role of the Joint Committee had changed from pump priming new recycling schemes. The change of name reflected the new role and the Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee now funds and promotes County wide initiatives.

These include the Devon Community Recycling Network, Devon Community Composting Network, Real Nappy Campaign, Furniture Reuse payments, ReMade South West, Recycling Works Consortium, Devon Authorities Web Site, exhibitions at the Devon County Show and the Don't let Devon go to Waste campaign.
