About us
The Waste Education Steering Group (WESG) was set up in 2003 as part of the ‘Don’t let Devon go to waste initiative’. WESG brings together key members of staff from all local authorities in Devon, the Environment Agency, Resource Futures and a number of community group representatives. The group has developed the Waste Education Strategy and Action Plan, and provides valuable opportunities for partnership working.
WESG aims to promote:
1) Increased awareness of waste issues in Devon schools including all aspects of the waste hierarchy.
2) The 3 R's - Reduce Reuse, Recycling and Composting in school and at home.
3) Waste education as a part of the National Curriculum
4) Green procurement, closing the loop and best practice in waste management.
