Devon schools are very fortunate to have a fantastic Waste Education programme available to them. The Waste Educators will work with schools to identify their main sources of waste, they will then be able to work with groups to develop an action plan and run workshops and activities!

Site Visits and Shows

Landfill Site and Recycling Centre Visit

Available for Devon LEA schools only.

Experience the sights, sounds and smells of waste management.

The County Council works in partnership with Teignbridge District Council and Viridor Waste Management to offer schools a free V.I.P. tour around Brunel Road Recycling Centre, Newton Abbot and Heathfield Landfill Site, Kingsteignton.

Due to the high demand, we can offer a visit to one class, or maximum group size of 32 (28 children plus 4 adults) per school each educational year, so book early to avoid disappointment! Click here for further details and to see a typical agenda for the tour.

 Mrs Recycle 

Available Free for Schools in Torridge District area.

Mrs Recycle offers Schools and other interested groups in North Devon area a range of interactive and hands on activities that encourage all to think about the 3Rs.

Schools in Torridge area can book Mrs Recycle free of charge where the programme is funded by Torridge District Council. For more information click here.

Elfic - Juggler and Jester

Chargeable - Schools may book Elfic directly using the link below.

Elfic operates throughout South Devon and uses his unique skills to impart information and ideas. His "Sort it Out, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle ... On a Unicycle" show teaches children about the 3R's and also covers the nature and properties of materials as covered in the KS1 and KS2 Science curriculum.
