The Big Clothes Swap - Exeter
We are excited to announce Amnesty’s Big Clothes swap event in January!
Where? The Lemon Grove
When? 20th January, 12-4pm
What is it?
Donate your unwanted clothes in advance or on the door, then pay just £3 entry into The Lemmy, where you can choose items you’d like to take home! Any clothes which are not swapped will be donated to the charity raft (refugee aid from Taunton), so that suitable clothes can be sent to refugees.
Along side all this charity goodness there'll be live disco, soul and funk djs on the day to get you groovin' whilst you shop!
There will also be cake on sale, vegan and gluten free options too! And stay tuned for an online competition where you’ll be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.
Clothes swapping is the perfect way to revamp your wardrobe without spending a penny and helping to reduce some of the £140 million worth of clothing going into landfill every year. This is a brilliant way to keep fashion sustainable and get rid of those unworn clothes and fill your wardrobe with pre loved goodies!
We are keen to highlight the human rights abuses and exploitation of the environment which go into the mass production of clothes by the fashion industry. We hope this will provide a more sustainable alternative to disposable fashion, particularly as it falls during the January sales!
How do I swap?
Bring your pre loved items (MAX 10) of clothing as you can find to our quality check team, we'll check them and make sure they are fit for swapping. Ideally we would like clothes donated in advance so we can have a range of clothes available when the event starts- stay tuned as we will release collections before the event!
What can I bring?
Any items of clothing you think still have life in them; coats, tops, jeans, trousers, shirts, skirts, bags, hats (the list really is endless) Please don't bring anything you think isn't fit to be passed on; i.e. any holes, big stains, bits missing! Please also give it a quick wash before you bring it!
Proceeds will all be donated to Amnesty International! So come along, bring friends, flatmates or just yourself for a great event raising money for Amnesty, advocating sustainable and ethical fashion, and donating clothes to raft!
