What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships prepare you for the world of work or advance your skills in your current job. They are paid employment, providing on-the-job learning alongside accredited training, real-world industry experience and can supercharge your career options. Apprenticeships can be in the private, public or community sectors.
Who can become an apprentice?
You can become an apprentice if you are:
- aged 16 or over (there’s no upper age limit)
- living in England
- not in full-time education
A career in waste management can cover a wide range of areas to suit all interests, such as:
- Operations & Logistics e.g. Driver, Equipment Operator, Operations Manager
- Technical & Specialised Roles e.g. Environmental Engineer, Hazardous Material Specialist, Lab Technician/Chemist, Sustainability Consultant, Waste Education, Communications
- Administrative & Support Roles e.g. Waste Management Officer, Health and Safety Specialist, Customer Service Representative,
- Management & Strategy e.g. Business Development Manager, Site/Facility Manager
