Aerosols

Some district councils collect aerosol cans in their household collection; click here for more info. Normal domestic aerosols can be recycled at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Aluminium Cans

You can recycle aluminium cans in your household collection; please squash them as much as possible first. You can also take them to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Aluminium Foil

Some district councils can collect aluminium foil in their household collections; click here for more info. Alternatively, you can take foil to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Aluminium Trays

Some district councils can collect aluminium trays in their household collections; click here for more info. Alternatively, you can take aluminium trays to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Animal bedding

This is not acceptable at your local household waste recycling centre. In most areas you should be able to dispose a small amount in your general waste container. Please contact your district council for more information.

Asbestos

Asbestos can be disposed of at a limited number of Household Waste Recycling Centres. It should be securely wrapped and is chargeable, see the Asbestos page for guidance.

Ash (Coal & Wood)

Wood ash can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre and recycled with garden waste. Alternatively, it can be added to your home composting bin or used as soil fertiliser. Coal ash cannot be recycled and should be put your in general waste bin.
